UMUC's Master of Science in Information Technology Program is designed for those who are called upon to develop, implement, and operate information systems in a variety of organizations. Graduates of the this program will have a broad technical understanding of current and emerging technologies in the IT field, a familiarity with systems engineering concepts and a solid foundation in the technological basis of the Internet. They will also have a firm grasp of current and future effects of the convergence of computer systems and telecommunications systems technologies.
The Homeland Security Management (HSMN) specialization provides managers and practitioners with the background to prepare for and deal with a wide range of man-made and natural threats and vulnerabilities at the community and organizational level. The curriculum prepares students to perform security risk assessments and to develop strategies to mitigate threats to people, physical facilities, and information-dependent critical infrastructure as well to plan for and manage operational recovery. Courses also explore the evolving roles within various first responder communities regarding pre-event planning and post-event response.
