Program Description:

Liberty University’s 100% online Ph.D. in Music Education degree will help students expand their knowledge of historical, philosophical, and ethical studies as well as prepare them to take on leadership roles at the university or K-12 district level. This program will build upon the student’s previous experience and allow them to conduct unique research to contribute to the discipline. They will study the different methods of research as well as current issues and roles of music educators and administrators. Students will further help branch out into areas of research related to how they can build community and culture in their music program and relate it to other groups in the educational system and beyond. Students who have been working as music educators, wish to expand their roles, and are looking to research and give back to the general field of knowledge are ideal candidates. This music education doctorate applies to educators looking to move into higher education roles in the industry. Some examples of careers that might come from this are university music professors, academic researchers, K-12 district administrators of music and fine arts, and community arts educators.
