Master of Education in Special and Gifted Education: Twice Exceptionalities
Liberty University’s online Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Special and Gifted Education – Twice Exceptionalities is designed to help licensed teachers expand their expertise and reach a wider range of students. This degree covers effective methods for serving children who are gifted, disabled, or twice exceptional and includes add-on endorsements in Career and Technical Education (CTE)-Transition and Special Needs, Gifted Education, and Special Education General Curriculum. By offering 3 add-on endorsements in the same program, Liberty can help students save time and money while providing essential training for career advancement. Upon successful completion of this Virginia state-approved M.Ed. program, students may apply for reciprocity in another state, which may or may not result in additional requirements based on their state’s Department of Education regulations. Topics of study include characteristics of children with disabilities, identification of the gifted learner, and best practices for helping students with disabilities transition into the workforce, postsecondary education, and/or independent living. In addition to taking rigorous online classes, students in this program will gain hands-on experience by completing practicums.
