Program Description:

The MFA in Visual Arts low-residency program provides the ideal solution for artists, teachers, and other professionals in related fields who are seeking advancement in visual arts. The program allows you, with the guidance of our internationally known faculty and mentors, to design your own studio and academic plan for each semester, building on the tradition of collaboration and innovation that characterizes the art programs at AIB and Lesley University. This MFA also benefits from the success of Lesley University's low-residency model, which meets the diverse needs of adult learners. The interdisciplinary focus of the MFA program encourages you to explore the integration of a variety of visual arts media. The MFA in Visual Arts focuses on developing the tools and expertise to refine your vision. • Advance your study of art history, culture and critical thinking through the rigorous academic components of the program. • Increase your awareness of how your work relates to worldwide traditions of art making. • Broaden your knowledge of visual arts as a profession, including relationships with galleries, grant, and proposal preparation, public and private commission, and the ongoing development of media and art making tools.

The MFA in Visual Arts program is fully accredited by both NEASC and NASAD and is the only low-residency program based on the two ten-day residencies to be approved by NASAD.

International Student Requirements:

The program works no differently for International students than it does for U.S. residents with the exception of Visa and TOEFL requirements. International students can stay and study in the United States for the duration of the 10-day residency only. Students will be permitted to enter the United States a few days before the residency begins and will be able to leave the United States a few days after the residency ends. However, it is important to note that international students in this program must remain outside of the United States between each residency.
