M.S. Communication Disorders and Sciences

 CSU Northridge currently offers three programs that will help you make a difference in the lives of adults and children with speech and language disorders…

Online Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences (CDS)
•ASHA Accredited, 36-month program that utilizes a convenient distance-learning format to fit the lifestyle of a busy, working adult
• Cohort model ensures on-time graduation, as well as an intimate and long-term network between students and faculty
• Courses are taught by esteemed faculty with real-world experience in the field of communication disorders
• Qualified candidates should have 30 units of approved undergraduate courses in Communicative Disorders (which may be satisfied through the Pre-CDS program)

Online Communication Disorders and Sciences (CDS) Prerequisite Program
•2-year, online Pre-CDS program for students from non-CDS or speech language pathology backgrounds who wish to complete required coursework for a master’s-level program in CDS
• Students who complete this program may be automatically admitted to the online Master of Science in Communication Disorders and Sciences
• This prerequisite program also provides a great foundation for entry into the online Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Fieldwork Experience certificate program
•Course topics include speech and language development, phonetics, voice and fluency disorders, speech science, and language disorders

Online Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Fieldwork Experience Certificate Program
•100-hour program allows you to study online at home for six weeks, then complete an 80-hour, six-week clinical field experience
• Great fit for students with a bachelor's in communication disorder sciences (CDS) or speech-language pathology who have not been accepted to a master's-level program or do not wish to pursue a master's degree in these areas
• Graduates of this program can expect increases in responsibilities, authority, and salary, whether in their current positions or in new opportunities
• 10 graded Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
• Available to California residents only
