Degrees Offered:

Master of Public Administration: Health Administration

Format: Online

Program Description:

CSUN created the Health Administration option of our nationally-ranked MPA program in response to requests for an opportunity to develop leadership and management skills specific to health-related organizations. Since there are many public sector nuances within the health care sector, it is crucial for those involved to have the capacity for managing both domains. This two-year online program empowers individuals in both the public and private sectors who work with health-related organizations and fosters their ability to work across all facets of this growing industry.

It is crucial that those who manage organizations that interface with the healthcare sector have the training to supervise workers, and lead teams with the upmost skill and efficiency. Students will leave the program prepared for management roles with the ability to directly impact the efficiency of health-related organizations, implement effective health care public policy and improve access to quality care.

The Evolving Health Care Landscape
Health care is one of the fastest growing industries and career opportunities continue to expand in various health-related organizations, including:
• Hospitals
• Managed care and health insurance
• Medical group management
• Home health and long-term care facilities
• Local, state and federal public agencies
• Medical equipment companies
• Medical billing companies
• Biomedical industry
• Public health industry

Online programs that meet exceptional standards
CSUN's online delivery format provides midcareer adults with significant flexibility for completing coursework at times and in places that fit their own schedules.
The distinguished faculty and leading practitioners who design and teach in CSUN's on-campus programs also craft the university's online programs, which are held to the same high standards of academic excellence and student achievement.

Work-friendly flexibility
Students are enrolled in two assigned courses per semester and are able to attend classes and access course materials at their own convenience. This flexibility enables busy professionals to continue working while they pursue a graduate degree.

A cohesive and supportive learning community
Students enter and proceed through this program as a cohort, which encourages the development of a supportive network of fellow industry professionals. The cohort design not only guarantees enrollment in all required courses but also results in on-time program completion rates of up to 85% or higher.

Exceptional support services
CSUN offers exceptional support services designed for working professionals. From application to graduation, students enjoy the one-on-one support of a designated program manager; as well as access to a CSUN faculty member assigned to coordinate the efforts of those who teach in the program.

Stackable curricula
For those with bachelor's degrees who are not certain they wish to pursue the MPA degree at this time, CSUN offers stackable curricula. This feature enables students to take the MPA-linked Health Administration graduate-certificate program and apply the graduate credits earned to the Master of Public Administration degree at a later time. In addition, nine units of credit earned in the Health Administration graduate-certificate program can be used to satisfy the requirements of CSUN's Master of Science in Health Administration.
