Program Information

Degrees Offered:

Bioethics and Science Policy

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Duke Master of Arts in Bioethics & Science Policy is distinct in its focus on bioethics and science policy, rather than bioethics or medical ethics alone. The Duke Masters program provides students with a solid foundation in the history, philosophy, legal, social, and theoretical approaches in bioethics, with foundational knowledge in science policy and political processes.

Dr. Nita Farahany and her extraordinary team founded the Bioethics & Science Policy graduate program to teach students how to identify, analyze, and propose practical solutions to myriad complex issues at the intersection of science, technology, ethics, and policy.

Today’s world of rapid progress in the sciences has generated demand for professionals with expertise in the ethical and policy implications of a broad range of emerging scientific areas. Duke’s wide focus provides a broader education, opens more opportunities to graduating students, and prepares students to meet an ever-growing need in society.
