New York University (NYU) is a private, not-for-profit university. NYU was founded as far back as 1831 by statesman, Albert Gallatin. Together, he and other founding fathers, planned NYU as a center of higher learning that “would be open to all, regardless of national origin, religious beliefs, or social background.”i
Since its first classes in Lower Manhattan circa 1832, New York University has grown, not only in enrollment. Presently, there are three degree-granting campuses in New York City, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi as well as study away sites in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America.
Classified as a doctoral university of the ‘highest research activity’ by Carnegie, students could find varied and exciting graduate programs at all levels.iiFrom post-baccalaureate certificates to Masters degrees, post-masters certificates and Doctoral degrees.
New York University confers degrees through its various schools, such as: the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, the School of Law, the School of Medicine, the College of Nursing, the Tandon School of Engineering, and the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
Plus, NYU has a robust selection of online grad programs to choose from. With disciplines as diverse as education, computer science, social work and environmental conservation, NYU may have a perfect program for a variety of student needs.
New York University’s mission values conditions whereby graduate students could gain expertise and conduct original research in their fields. Through rigorous programs, NYU strives to assist students so they might develop the essential skills and experience necessary to thrive in a global economy.
Based on Fall 2016 data, graduate enrollment totaled 24,415 out of a total student population of 50,550. ii
Eligible students may receive Pell Grants and other federal aid (e.g. Direct Loans). ii NYU also offers different scholarships and resources that students could apply for. Speak to a financial aid advisor from NYU for more information.
