Program Description:

As one of the only master's degrees of its kind in Minnesota, this program is designed for individuals who would like to become licensed to teach in the special education areas of learning disabilities (LD), emotional/behavioral disorders (EBD), and/or autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The M.A. in Special Education is based on the standards required by the Minnesota Board of Teaching. All standards and requirements must be successfully completed by candidates prior to recommendation to the Minnesota Board of Teaching for licensure. Individuals may choose to complete only the courses leading to licensure graduate certificate for an LD or EBD. Endorsement for Autism Spectrum Disorder is also available. Those students who wish to earn the Master of Arts in Special Education must also complete the additional six credits of the master's completion sequence. The main focus of the program is development of intercultural competence.
