Program Description:
With approximately 120 majors, the Interior Design program is guided by seven full-time faculty members instructing most studio and lecture courses. Additional courses are taught in the related departments of Architecture, Engineering and Textiles. Students must successfully complete a minimum of 127.5 credit hours of coursework, comprised of liberal arts (42.5 credits) and design education (85.5 credits) to meet the degree requirements. The Interior Design curriculum is studio based (36 credits), supported by lecture courses in materials (6 credits), systems (12 credits), history (6 credits) and electives. Communication skills such as drawing, drafting and rendering are taught using both manual and computer applications. Software programs for both Macintosh and DOS platforms are available within the college for student use.Computer-aided design is integrated into the studio beginning in the sophomore year.
