Master of Arts in International Administration

Program Description:

The Master of Arts in International Administration (MAIA) program is a dynamic, interdisciplinary degree that offers coursework in human rights, diplomacy, sustainability, security, international economics, public policy, and global health.  MAIA graduates have found rewarding careers with embassies and consulates, international businesses, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and in emergency management.  Our faculty members are drawn from an array of departments and professional fields: Political Science, Economics, Communications, History and the Foreign Service.

MAIA welcomes all undergraduate majors, offering full and part-time options, individualized advisement, financial aid, professional development seminars and a host of features designed to meet your needs. MAIA has a fast-track option that allows you to complete your masters in one year. Courses are offered in the evenings, with select courses available online and in the summer.  We also offer a 15-credit Certificate in Security Management for those who wish to seek certification in areas related to domestic and international security, and a Security Management track is available within the full MAIA degree program. MAIA can also be taken as part of a dual-degree program with either a Master of Public Administration (MPA) or a Master of Public Health (MPH).

Location matters. Your studies with MAIA will take place within the cosmopolitan environment of Miami. A place of energy, creativity, and international center for business, politics and humanitarian work, Miami is an ideal place from which to embark on the next phase of your career.

For Veteran Students:  The MAIA program was named a “Best of the Best” program for veterans by U.S. Veterans Magazine and recognized as a military friendly school by the Military Friendly Schools Survey. MAIA and the University of Miami are also proud participants in the Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, a provision of the post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008, which enables eligible veterans and family members to apply their post 9/11 GI Bill to help cover the expenses of earning a master's degree.  We have had several alumni go on to intern and work at U.S. Southern Command and we have been successful in assisting veteran students with their military-to-civilian career transition.  Your service is very important to us.

The University of Miami is fully accredited by SACSCOC - Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The MAIA program is an affiliate of APSIA, the Association for Professional Schools of International Affairs.
