Master of Arts: Film and Television Production
Format: Campus
The Master of Arts (MA) in Film and Television Production at Sacred Heart University is a graduate conservatory devoted to cinematic storytelling and hands-on production. Our 36 credit degree program was designed to teach students the artistic and technical skills necessary to create substantive and professional work. FTMA students shoot their films using the latest digital technologies, equipment, software, and state of the art facilities. This program is designed to be completed in 1 year.
Students in the FTMA program learn by doing in hands-on workshops taught by established film and television scholars and industry professionals. FTMA students will graduate with a creative body work -- completed film and television projects that serve as a digital portfolio of professional artifacts in his/her area of concentration (directing, producing, and screenwriting).
Internships are part of the curriculum and take place in regional media outlets, television stations, programs and networks, film and video shoots, production companies, and area post-production houses, including many companies right here in Connecticut: NBCUniversal, WWE, Creative Group, ESPN, Sono Studies and more. Our proximity to New York City, the media capital of the world, is a tremendous benefit to our students' placement in top notch internships.
The conservatory program is housed at Sacred Heart University's Martire Business & Communications Center located in Fairfield, Connecticut (60 miles to New York City) utilizing state-of-the-art classrooms and studio spaces. Students have access to advanced camera equipment, including DSLR HD, C100 and Black Magic camera systems, professional lighting and a one-ton G&E package. This equipment is industry standard and used in some of Hollywood’s biggest movie productions. Our new post-production labs use Apple Mac computers with Adobe Premiere and Avid software.
FTMA is a cohort program with new student intake each Fall. We are presently accepting applications for Fall 2019.
