Program Description:

Capital Area North Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Ed.D Program Image of Capital Area North Doctorate in Educational Leadership, Ed.D Program The CANDEL program, is a partnership between the University of California, Davis, and Sonoma State University, and is designed to produce exemplary educational leaders in schools, community colleges, and related areas within education. Graduates of this program are prepared to lead for change in educational environments that promote learning, equity, and achievement for all students. Launched in 2005, CANDEL is fully accredited by WASC and aims to cultivate educational leaders from public schools, community colleges, state and local educational agencies, and organizations serving education in northern California. The program is designed with working professionals in mind. It is cohort based an accepted new students each fall. Classes are held on the UC Davis Campus on approximately every third Friday and Saturday. Program participants include principals, superintendents, district office and county office of education staff, teachers, education program managers, consultants, education policy makers, community college faculty, presidents and vice-chancellors as well other current or aspiring leaders in education. Our common purpose and theme is to produce exemplary leaders who are willing to question how we do business in education and seek to make the kinds of change that truly impact our students here in northern California.
