Program Description:
Mills offers a master of fine arts (MFA) degree in studio art led by a distinguished faculty of internationally known artists. The program focuses on painting, ceramics, sculpture (including installation), photography, intermedia, video, and electronic arts. Students are encouraged to work across media boundaries. The two-year graduate program is selective, limited to 12 new students each year, and is designed to meet the demanding standards of the profession. The size of the graduate program enables the faculty to work directly with each degree candidate. In addition to this individual attention, graduate students in studio art also enjoy spacious, private studios with 24/7 access during the entire two years of their program. The MFA program culminates in a thesis exhibition of student work in the Mills College Art Museum, open to art critics, gallery owners, and the general public.
